On Sunday morning, our U13 Footballers played the Plate Final of the John Curry U13 Memorial Tournament. Our opponents were St Pat's. Conditions were tough in Rathgormack, with driving wind and rain blowing down the field, we played with the wind in the 1st half and never really got going. At halftime we were level at 0-04 to 1-01, a rousing team talk by Anthony got the lads fired up, and credit to our lads they gave an outstanding performance against the gale force wind, working it through the lines with some great passages of play. We took the lead with 5 minutes left and then some resolute defending kept St Pat's at bay, winning on a scoreline of 4-05 to 4-03. It was a great turn around in performance in the 2nd half, there was great scenes as Jason Curry presented the John Curry Memorial Plate to Seán Whelan. Well done to Mervyn and all in Rathgormack for an excellently run Tournament. We played 5 matches over the last few weeks which was great for development, as there's no championship at this age group this year.  Rathgormack made a great occasion of it on Sunday, with a good crowd and the National Anthem played before each match and a presentation after each game. It was great for the lads. Hard luck to St Pat's who played very well and on another day could easily have won. Well done to all.
